The best laid plans...

..or something like that. 8}
I've been writing or trying to write or staring blankly at the computer, depending on your view of it, forever now. Due to a personally devastating case of medical mismanagement, the eventual long-term fallout, ironically enough, is some memory issues and a mild form of aphasia, making words, which used to readily spill out, take up residence just out of my reach. I have the utmost sympathy for Gibbs with his Swiss-cheese memory now and, perhaps, something of a frame of reference. ~=b
With that said, I was recently asked about my intended sequel to Memories of Me. I've jumped back into trying to write recently and have made some headway on Recalled to Duty and its sequel, Lost in the Part, as well as my Gibbs meets Tony story, The Fox and the Hound, and End Game, a team loyalty fic. Unfortunately, I don't have a timeline for any of them, nor the story I owe
taylorgibbs, but it seems to be coming easier the more I just let the muses loose and do some Timmy-style freewriting as a form of therapy as opposed to forcing results. Hopefully, sooner than later? My hope is to have at least one of them done by the end of the year.
Last week, while watching "Thirst" with everyone at
gibbs_dinozzo, I posted a comment fic - my first, and most definitely not last, slash. After some encouragement following the first comment, it got very out of hand, and before I knew it, it was a wee ficlet - full of pure, playful smut. If you'd like to check it out, you can find it here: http://gibbs-dinozzo.livejournal.com/945820.html Most of my writing is Gen, but I am sure I'll dabble with slash in the future as well! ;)
Be well! ♥

Date: 2011-10-30 01:48 am (UTC)I'm sorry to hear about your health issues. Have you considered using a recorder or something else that would help you get your thoughts down on "paper"? I would imagine that you have a physical therapist or some other service such as that to help you out and suggest tools that would make your life easier.
Best wishes for your success!

Date: 2011-10-30 09:04 am (UTC)I'm still madly in love with "Memories of Me" which blew me away the first time I read it and continues to leave me green with envy whenever I look at it. I mean, there are only a handful of stories I wish I had written, and this is one of them. *sneakily steals it and claims it as own* :P
Seriously though, I sympathize when it comes to not being able to write due to medical reasons, and I hope free-style writing will help you jumpstart the muse again. I'd say your wild foray into the dark corner of slash was a clear indicator that things are starting to take shape again! :D I loved your episode tag, and I'm thrilled to itty-bitty pieces that you shared the fic with us! :D
So, here's hoping we'll get more of your stories in future! :)

Date: 2011-10-31 02:41 pm (UTC)And there are tons of other stories waiting to be written, so never fear. *g* Just posted a Halloween-themed fic, and will probably be inspired as all hell by today's/tomorrow's new ep, and there's this huge AU epic that I really need to finish... :)
You just go and concentrate on getting better (and maybe play with your muse again soon-ish? *hopeful look*)! :D

Date: 2011-11-01 09:00 pm (UTC)It was scary at first, now, even tho I'm much better, it's just so frustrating. The doctor said recovery could take up to a year before we know what my new normal will be but writing is actually the best thing I could do to help myself. Doctor ordered fanfic? *BWAH!* >:)
